Hybrid: Director, Producer, Creative Director, Activist
As an independent director and producer, I focus on commercial and branded content with a specialty in documentary-style storytelling for a variety of industries, causes and brands. Deep experience in healthcare, education, financial services, behavior-change campaigns, and purpose-driven brands. I’m skilled at interviewing and directing real people, particularly around health, culture, social justice, lifestyle, as well as mental health, sensitive topics, and trauma.
My interest in people — and advocacy — started with a degree in psychology and working as a therapist before heading into advertising and media. I value telling stories around courage, compassion, inspiring acts and people who are badass. I'm a member of Alliance of Women Directors and Women in Media. My production company, Heroine Films, is a values-led creative production collective founded on radical inclusivity.
As a creative director, I’ve worked in agencies and brand-side across a number of industries such as healthcare, hospitality, financial, education, pharma, agriculture, food & beverage, and more. I lead teams in developing creative platforms and integrated campaigns including branded content, digital, print, video/film, motion graphics, social, OOH, and radio. Over 15 years experience in agency strategy and leadership along with managing creative teams from writers, designers, art directors, and video creators to external partners, post-production houses, and crews.
I’ve been on The 3% Movement team as Executive Producer since 2013, working to change the ratio of creative leadership and spark positive action in areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the ad industry and beyond.
Early in my career, I worked as a substance abuse counselor in New York and Chicago in several treatment centers, methadone clinics and public health departments. I wasn't sure if I wanted to be a graphic designer or a therapist when I got out of college so I spent five years working in this field. I cherish the time I spent here and the people I was honored to meet. This experience taught me so much about being human, behavior, trauma, and how to heal.
I’m a Chicago native (Go Cubs) who migrated to Milwaukee and worked as a CD & EP for the better part of my career. Now I'm in beautiful Colorado, working as a director and producer and forging ahead to create more opportunities and grow and elevate the diverse talent we have here in the Colorado film and media community.
